How to Choose The Perfect Footwear For Boot Cut Jeans
When you are looking at what shoes to wear with bootcut jeans you really need to think about a few things first. I vary my footwear depending on the weather, my outfit, the occasion and whether to wear flats or heels.
The weather definitely plays a key role during the warmer months. I’m more likely to wear flat open-toed sandals, espadrille wedges or lightweight sneakers when its hot and I make sure my footwear is breathable.
For colder seasons you are more likely to find me in boots or leather loafers. The weather here in the UK is cold and wet so its harder to get away with other style choices. Also make sure the material of your shoes suits the weathe. Suede or fabric shoes are better for dry conditions, while leather or waterproof boots are ideal for rain or snow.
Also think about your personal style and the occasion when you are choosing your footwear. For a polished sophisticated look, pointed-toe pumps, heeled ankle boots, or wedge boots pair beautifully with bootcut jeans, especially for evenings out or semi-formal events.
If you’re dressing for a casual occasion, flat shoes like ballet flats, loafers, or sneakers can keep things relaxed and comfortable while still looking chic.
Finally do consider the heel height of your shoes and their stability and comfort. I love high heels but they don’t always love me so if I am going to wear them I choose block heels or platforms to make them more wearable.
Top Shoe Styles to Complement Bootcut Jeans
Let’s start by talking about shoes first. Here are some great options that work with the boot cut silhouette that you can try.
Boot Cut Jeans and Sneakers
Bootcut jeans and sneakers are a match made in casual fashion heaven plus they are probably what most of us spend most of our time wearing as we go about our business each day.
The slightly flared hem of bootcut jeans creates a balanace silhouette that works well with the relaxed vibe of sneakers.
I personally love white sneakers in the summer for a crisp clean look or chunkier trainers for a more modern twist. In winter I’ll switch to darker colored leather sneakers (they are easier to clean) because they can withstand the rain.
Plus I have to mention the comfort factor. Sneakers make running errands so much easier which is why they are one of my favorite looks.
Loafers
Another great type of footwear for winter and transitional months are loafers. These can be your typical penny style loafers or alternatively chunkier styles if you want to be a little more fashion-forward.
The streamlined, slip-on design of loafers complements the slightly flared hem of bootcut jeans, creating a balanced silhouette that’s both timeless and trendy.
Loafers are also incredibly versatile so you can wear them casually or in semi-formal settings. Plus, their low profile allows the hem of bootcut jeans to drape neatly, showcasing your footwear without overpowering your look.
Heels
There are a huge range of different types of heels out there but I personally think two styles in particular work really well with bootcut jeans.
Firstly pointed toe pumps look sophisticated and flattering and can really elevate the looks of your jeans.
Alternatively if you want a more practical modern style then think about buying some block heels which are comfortable but also fashionable.
Both styles give you a little extra height, helping to elongate your legs and ensuring your jeans drape gracefully.
Ballet Flats and Boot Cut Jeans
If you want to know what shoes to wear with bootcut jeans then think about ballet flats. I love ballet flats and have a huge collection of them in my wardrobe. They are timeless, versatile and they are comfortable which is why I wear them so much.
Their low-profile design allows the flared hem of boot cut jeans to drape around them effortlessly so you have a really clean polished look.
Whether you opt for classic leather flats, playful prints, or embellishments like bows, ballet flats bring a touch of elegance to even the most casual outfits.
I think they are perfect for days when you really want to keep things simple. You can slip them on and off so you can get up and go when you are running errangs but they also work for work or more sophisticated brunches.
If you want to be more fashion forward choose flats what have pointed toes.
Flat Sandals
When the warmer weather hits then flat sandals can start to make an appearance when you are wearing your bootcut jeans.
I prefer sandals with a minimalist look but you can choose leather slides or embellished sandals if you want to jazz up your outfit.
Flat sandals also let you showcase a peek of skin or a fun pedicure, adding a playful touch to your overall look. I think they are ideal for casual outings, summer strolls, or beachy vibes.
Mules
Both flat and heeled mules are having a moment right now. The open-back design of mules can add a chic and modern look to any outfit.
They come in a huge range of different styles from classic leather, suede or trendy textured styles so you have a whole host of possible looks to choose from.
If you choose heeled mules the added height from the heel not only elongates your legs but also ensures the jeans drape beautifully, giving your look a polished finish.
My only issue with mules is that I find them hard to walk in even when they are flat so whilst they don’t feature in my closet they might in yours.
Wedges
Whilst I may have a problem walking in mules, wedge shoes and sandals are a totally different ball game.
I love them because they have a really sturdy design and give me that extra bit of height I need without sacrificing comfort and stability. This makes them so much easier to walk around in compared to traditional heels.
For summer, espadrille wedges are a perfect pick as they add a relaxed vibe to an outfit with their natural rope detailing. Pair them with light-wash or cropped bootcut jeans for a fresh, seasonal look that’s ideal for vacations, garden parties, or sunny strolls.
Whether you’re dressing up for an event or keeping it casual, wedges give your bootcut jeans a chic and wearable upgrade.
Best Boots to Wear with Bootcut Jeans for a Stylish Look
Whilst shoes work well with bootcut jeans the right boots can also look great. Choose these styles to really compliment the flare of these jeans.
Ankle Boots
Let’s start with ankle boots which are a classic choice for bootcut jeans. You can choose either the heeled or flat styles as both work well.
Heeled ankle boots can add height and elongate your legs. Plus they tend to give you a sleeker more polished look. This is why they work great for elevating your outfit in the evening.
Flat ankle boots are more comfortable and are better for everyday wear.
Whether you opt for leather, suede, or textured finishes, ankle boots, heeled or not, are a must-have pairing with bootcut jeans, suitable for everything from casual errands to nights out.
Cowboy Boots
I’m from the UK and whilst you can buy cowboy boots here they aren’t really a big thing however they do work well with bootcut jeans.
Cowboy boots are perfect for tucking under the flared hem of bootcut jean. It doesn’t matter if they are pointed or have rounded toes as they both work well.
The slight heel of the boot will elongate your legs plus they add a bit of personality into your outfits.
I should mention they are also highly functional because they offer your feet support and they are durable enough for day to day wear.
I prefer the minimalist styles but everyone has different taste so go with what you like.
Chunky-Heeled Boots/Lug Soles
Chunky heeled boots or lug-sole boots are a modern and edgy choice that work well with bootcut jeans.
Chunky heeled boots give you extra height but also keep you comfortable which is why I like them.
I also like lug-soled boots for a more fashionable trend led look. The thick treaded sole adds some texture and edge, making these boots a practical and stylish option for cooler weather.
Both styles give a contemporary twist to bootcut jeans so that you look a little more fashion forward.
Platform Boots
Platform boots are a bit of a bolder choice and great for a night out. The elevated sole of platform boots adds height and also drama to your outfit.
Choose the right boots and you’ll be shocked to find they are still surprisingly comfortable to walk in because the plaform actually hides the actual height of the boot which is lower than it looks.
You can opt for classic leather platforms for a polished appearance or chunky, statement-making designs for a retro-inspired look. Platform boots instantly elevate your style and are perfect for everything from casual days out to a night on the town.
Combat Boots
Combat boots, like Doc Martens, are a cooler and edgier option that work with the bootcut jeans look.
There is something about the chunky sole and sturdy design of combat boots that creates a tough and rebellious vibe which contrast with the more classic silhouette of bootcut jeans.
I like the fact that the slightly flared hem of the boots still shows off the chunky soles and signature details like laces or stitching.
Combat boots are also incredibly practical and can be practical and durable for wearing every day especially in cooler or wet weather.
Wedge Boots
Finally if you want to know what shoes to weart with boot cut jeans think about wedge boots (just like the shoes) that pair beautifully with this style of jeans.
That wedge heel gives you height and support so that you feel comfortable as you walk around in them.
Bootcut jeans tend to drape well over wedge designs and should create a polished look for those of you who want to look a little more put together when you are out and about.
For a chic winter vibe, opt for suede wedge boots, or choose sleek leather designs for a more refined finish. Whether you’re heading out for errands, a lunch date, or a night out, wedge boots add just the right amount of style and practicality
