Do you want to know how to stretch UGG slippers? If so I hopefully have some handy tips and hacks that you can use to improve their fit if the pair you have are difficult to wear.
I know how annoying it can be to buy slippers or shoes which you think are the right size to find out later that they are super uncomfortable and hurting your feet.
It’s even worse if you find this out after the return date for the shop has passed or they have been gifted to you and you can’t wear them.
Plus UGG slippers are not cheap! So the last thing you want to discover is that you have got some pricey footwear you have difficulty walking in.
If this is your problem here is what you need to know.

Should My Slippers Be Tight At First?
Any slipper that your buy or are gifted should be snug on your foot but not tight or uncomfortable.
If they are closed slippers like the UGG Ansley you should have some wiggle room where the toe box is situated and your foot should sit comfortably inside the footwear by the heel.
If you find there is too much movement the slippers are too loose and if your foot feels restricted, uncomfortable, or in pain, you need to size up.
With open-back slippers like the UGG Scuffette, your foot should be able to fit comfortably inside the front section and your heel should not be hanging over the back.
For styles like the UGG Fluff Yeah slippers, the band that fits over the top of your foot should be snug but not too tight. You certainly shouldn’t have to force the slipper onto your feet.
Will My UGG Slipper Stretch Out?
Do UGG Sippers Stretch?
Well sheepskin slippers such as UGG’s are known to increase slightly in size over time. The sheepskin expands and molds to your feet so a tight fit can get looser over time.
There are of course limitations on how much genuine sheepskin stretches. This is why it always makes sense to try and buy a new pair of slippers in the right size.
This can be a little bit problematic with UGG as they don’t do half sizes in their slipper ranges. This means you have to think about the size you want to buy carefully.
If you are a half size it always makes sense to size up rather than size down to ensure that they fit properly.
It is also worth noting that whilst sheepskin can stretch the footbed of your slippers will not change. That means if your heel is hanging over the back of your slippers you really need to gift or sell them to someone else and buy a new pair.
How Much Do UGG Slippers Stretch?
The exterior of UGG slippers doesn’t tend to alter naturally but the interior area of the sheepskin slippers does. With regular wear, it will start to flatten and that will allow your foot more room inside the slippers.
UGG sheepskin slippers can feel around a half size larger over time as this flattening process happens. This means that tight slippers can start to feel slightly more comfortable over time.
UGG boots stretch in just the same way as the wool inside gets worn in.
How To Stretch UGG Slippers By Wearing Them With Thick Socks
If you do own a part of sheepskin slippers there are some things that you can do to help stretch your footwear and help get a more comfortable fit.
The first method you could use is a nice simple method and that is to wear your slippers with thick socks and walk around the house wearing them to make them a little bigger.
You could even try UGG socks if you want to try and match your footwear. The brand makes amazing styles and they are obviously high quality.
Whilst thick socks won’t increase the size by much they do help to create just a little extra space for your foot to sit inside your slippers or UGG boots more comfortably.
This is just a simple process to break in the slippers or boots so that they don’t feel so tight or constricted on your feet.
Wearing socks with them will also stop slippers from smelling so you can solve an additional problem at the same time.
Stretch Sheepskin Slippers With A Shoe Stretcher
Shoe and boot stretchers are a really handy gadget to own and are great at enabling you to stretch your slippers, shoes, and boots without the need to visit a cobbler.
Basic shoe stretchers tend to come in three different styles. The first is a two-way stretcher which helps to widen a slipper or shoe so that you have more room across the shoe.
When you insert the shoe stretcher into the slipper you can adjust the pressure so that the stretching process gives you more room for your feet. This is perfect if you have wide feet.
A four-way stretcher not only helps to stretch across the shoe or slipper but also helps to increase the length. This is helpful if you feel that your toe box area is cramped or your heels are uncomfortable at the back of your footwear.
Finally, you can also buy a stretcher that helps to increase the instep of your shoe. This enables your shoes and slippers to feel roomier on the top of your foot.
The type of stretcher you need to buy will depend on the UGG slippers you need to stretch and the problem areas.
Use An UGG Stretching Spray
If you want to know how to stretch UGG slippers then seriously consider investing in a stretching spray.
Whilst UGG doesn’t have its own spray you can use there are lots of different stretching sprays that you can purchase that will do a great job of helping your slippers to be comfier.
Fiebing’s Shoe Stretch Spray for Leather, Suede, or Nubuck Shoes is a typical product you can buy that helps to increase the size of your slippers.
All you need to do is spray the product on the inside of your slippers and then put on a thick pair of socks and walk around your house in them to increase the size. You may need to repeat the process a number of times before the spray stretches the material to the right size.
The product isn’t harmful to your skin or clothing so there should be no problem using it whilst wearing your slippers.
If you have shoe stretchers then you can spray your slippers and then place them in the shoe stretcher to make them a larger size.
This stretching spray can also be used for UGG boots as well.
Try Making Your Own DIY Shoe Stretching Spray
Stretching sprays don’t tend to be particularly expensive which is why many people use them to increase the size of their shoes, boots, and slippers. However, if you want to be a little bit more frugal you can make your own.
In order to make a DIY stretching spray you are going to need a spray bottle, some rubbing alcohol, and water. Mix one part rubbing alcohol with one part water and add the mix to a spray bottle and shake.
Spray the mixture insider your UGGS and then put on a pair of thick socks and start walking around in the house with the slippers on to make them bigger. Alternatively as before using a shoe stretcher to do the hard work for you.
This method can be just as effective as shop-bought sprays and cheaper if you already have rubbing alcohol lying around the house.
UGG Slippers Tight Across The Foot Use Your Freezer
An even cheaper DIY method to stretch UGG boots, shoes, and slippers involve using a freezer to do the work for you.
To use this method you will need two plastic freezer bags. Fill the first bag with water leaving enough room at the stop so there is a gap.
Squeeze out any excess air from the bag and seal it shut. Then place this bag into the other plastic bag. This is done in case there are any spills or the first bag breaks.
Now gently manipulate the bag into the area of your UGGS where you may be having a problem. When you have done this place your slippers into another plastic bag and put the whole lot into a freezer for 24 to 48 hours.
What should happen is that the water will begin to turn into ice and as it does it will expand which squeezes the sides of your slippers outwards.
When the time is up remove the slippers from the freezer and let the ice melt before removing the plastic bags. You should now have a little extra room in your footwear. Remember that you can repeat the process if you need to.
Using Newspaper to Stretch Footwear
It is also worth mentioning the old newspaper trick that many people use in order to create more space inside their footwear.
Just note our words of caution when it comes to using this method.
Firstly pick newspapers where the print doesn’t come off onto the material of your slippers. Nobody is going to be happy if your lovely sheepskin UGGS are covered in black newsprint!
Next, if you are using newspaper wet it but don’t saturate it completely otherwise it will fall apart. Moisten the paper and crumple it up as tight as you can and stuff it inside the toe box of your slippers.
Keep on pushing more and more newspapers into the space until you can’t fit anything else inside. Then allow the paper to dry naturally.
As the paper dries out it should expand and as it does that it will stretch the slippers making them more wearable.
If In Doubt Take Your Slippers To a Cobbler
Want to know how to stretch UGG slippers the easy way? Well, how about taking them to a cobbler?
Normally you wouldn’t think about taking slippers to a cobbler but as UGGs are expensive house shoes it makes sense to do everything you can to make sure they fit.
Cobblers have a whole range of equipment that you can’t replicate at home that will allow them to stretch your slippers without damaging them.
Yes, you may have to pay a little more than some of the methods that we have mentioned but it will be worth it if you can actually wear your slippers comfortably.
